About Gardenway Vizslas
Jackie
Perkins bought
her first two Vizslas in 1978 from Miss Angela Boys (Galfrid). Taking
her advice on the choice of a stud dog Jackie bred one litter from each bitch
- the 'A' and 'B' litters. Although they were litter sisters and she
used the same dog on both, the litters they produced were unalike. It was soon
clear that the 'B' litter was the one to follow and amongst these was
her first Champion, Gardenway Bula. It is Bula who
is behind all the dogs she has bred since. Two years after Bula was born
(1982) she bought a dog puppy from Gay Gottlieb's Russetmantle Kennel,
Russetmantle Grebe. He was to become the breed's youngest Show Champion,
gaining his title at the age of 16 months and one week, fighting off
some very strong competition on the way
These
two - Grebe and Bula - were to become the foundations of the Gardenway kennels
and for all that they contributed and made possible Jackie says that she
shall always be grateful. Both of them gained their 'full' Champion titles
in due course and bred two more in the years to follow. Jackie
has ensured that all subsequent stock retained for breeding were shot over.
