Gardenway Vizslas

Jackie Perkins - Hungarian Vizsla Breeder

Since Jackie first passed to award CCs in the breed in 1987, she has have judged them several times at Championship level in the UK and was proud to be asked to judge at Crufts in 1996. She has also been given the opportunity to judge overseas; Sweden in 1993, Australia in 1997 and Canada in 1999 at the VSO Specialty in Toronto. In March 2000 she judged 22 classes plus Best in Show at the Hunt Point Retrieve Club of Scotland Open show and in October that year was honoured to be asked to judge the Weimaraner Breed Club Open show. In 2004 she judged 24 classes and Best in show at the Bon Accord KA Open Show, also in Scotland. She has been invited back to Australia to judge again in the not too distant future.

For Jackie, the single most important feature in any dog is temperament and that is at the top of her list in her breeding programme. She explains, "For what good is a dog if he be the cleverest most handsome dog on earth if you cannot live with him? The Vizsla is a lively, enthusiastic breed of dog which, with the right training and background, can excel as a gundog but will equally happily take its place as one of the family. If it happens to be good looking as well, that is a real bonus!"

Jackie admits to a deep and heartfelt gratitude to the breed for giving her the opportunity to meet so many of them and their owners around the world.
